MD-Craigslist-Three female pigs, two bonded

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED Middle River, MD: Three guinea girls being rehomed because of move. The mother daughter pair (tan white and black "mixed like salt and pepper with tan" (might be roaning=especially don't breed (never breed), could create blind, deaf guinea pigs without teeth) are bonded and have to stay together, the third pig (pictured) does not like other pigs and so can go alone. See the ad for more information on daily diet and bedding details, as well as information on hair maintenance and rehoming fees.

* AAGP recommends quarantining any new guinea pigs
for 2-3 weeks and confirming the sex yourself.
Many sad accidents or "accidents" can be avoided this way. *

LISTING REMOVED Highland Springs, VA: Daughter lost interest in guinea pig that resembles "Pee Wee" from "Pee Wee and Plush," (the reference is lost on me). Described as "he talks to you and he is so cute, he is solid rust color." The mother is the one giving him attention now, and why set that example for the child! Reasonable rehoming fee includes the cage and food.

Keep this story and the hundreds other just like it posted weekly on CL in mind when adopting a pet for your kids. You can't rehome the kids, so what are you going to do with the 8 year life span guinea pig when your son has a three month attention span?

VA-Roanoke Valley SPCA-Bonded Boars

Roanoke Valley SPCA, VA: ADOPTED! Tator and Jack!

Tator and Jack are small young bonded boars who still need some socialization toward humans. That means they need one of those special, patient adopters. They are very cute guys. Tator is the torti colored one, and Jack is the black and white one. Please see the below note about Tator, modified from a lesson about a guinea pig on the other blog.

GUINEA PIG LESSON (borrowed from AAGP2): Satch (Tator in this instance) has a very beautiful element to his fur called roaning. One of many reasons why I'm against br33ding (and why this blog does not support br33ding), is because if a roan pig is br3d with with a roan pig (or if a dal pig, another br33d, is br3d with a dal pig), there is a one in four chance a lethal pig will be born. Lethal pigs are very, very special needs, if they live more than a few days. Please don't ever br33d your pigs, as there is a high chance of fatality for the mother. But if you have a pig with white fur and some black spots (a dal pig), or black markings such as Satch, please, please don't br33d them. Your pig may create a blind, deaf pig with no teeth who relies on you for care. And with so many hundreds of homeless pigs, why br33d in the first place?

GUINEA PIG LESSON FOR ME! Thank you to a friend of mine on GuineaLynx who pointed out a very significant error in the above lesson. Roaning is not just black mixed through with white, but any color mixed through with white in a similar pattern to Satch's. Thank you GL friend! GL is a place where you continually learn more and more about GPigs. I encourage anyone who has guinea pigs, or is considering getting guinea pigs, to join.

MD/VA/DC-Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue-Three new pigs + my heart breaking

Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue-MD/VA/DC: ADOPTED! Gypsy, ADOPTED! Rollo, and ADOPTED! Corduroy!

Well, here's the thing. Gypsy and Rollo were my foster pigs for five months and I love them. They are the best pigs in the whole wide world and they are bonded. I'm going to just go ahead and copy the MGPR provided bios because it's just too hard!

Gypsy is an absolutely beautiful piggy with a tame personality to match. She is bonded with her daughter Rollo, and they must be adopted together. Gypsy loves to popcorn around the floor during floortime, but will also sit in your lap like a kitten letting you pet her for hours.

Rollo is a burst full of energy! She is bonded with her mother, Gypsy, and they must be adopted together. Rollo has recently learned to love laptime and being pet, but her old favorite will always popcorning around wildly during floortime. Second to meals of course! Rollo is five months old.

ADOPTED! Corduroy is a very happy, rambunctious piggy in a fuzzy coat. Don't let her sweet smile fool you, she loves to run around and fuss when the 'fridge opens. She adores lettuce and red peppers. She hopes that you will fall in love with her and pair her up with a nice and happy buddy. (She is a piggy that likes to be bossy, so she hopes that she finds someone that can put up with her antics.)
