MD-Howard County Animal Control Adoption Center-crested baby boy

Howard County Animal Control Adoption Center; Columbia, MD: Andy!

Andy is a small baby boy with strikingly unique markings. He's a sweet guy who was given up because his child lost interest in him and so the parents turned him into the shelter. He has experience with dogs, cats, and kids. He's a nice, great little pig who really wants a forever home where the whole family is invested in his care.

VA-Virginia Beach SPCA-six Pigs

Virginia Beach SPCA; Virginia Beach, VA (Map): Mimzy, Gabby, Snowy, Cloud, Julius, Leo, Cinnamon, Fudge, Marshmellow, and Abby LISTING REMOVED Bear and LR Alex!

*NEW* Mimzy is a ten month old girl with short brown and white fur. She was born in the shelter. She has experience with cats, dogs, and kids. Vocal, "very sweet and friendly."

*NEW* Gabby is a two year old girl who is learning on how to be a happy guinea pig at the shelter. She wants to be adopted with a guinea girlfriend from the shelter! She has smooth white fur, some experience with dogs, and experience with children.

*NEW* Snowy is a three week old male guinea pig-just a baby! He wants to be adopted with one of his guy friends so he has company. Guinea pigs always need a friend. He has short white fur, some experience with dogs, and experience with children.

*NEW* Cloud is a three week old male guinea pig hoping to be adopted with a friend-how about Snowy? He has short white fur too, some experience with dogs, and experience with children.

*NEW* Julius is a six week old male guinea pig, very "sweet and friendly" who was born in the shelter. Vocal. He has short brown and red fur, a white nose, and experience with dogs, cats, and kids!

*NEW* Leo is a six week old male guinea pig who is also very "sweet and friendly." He was born in the shelter too! He has the same markings, short brown and red fur with a white nose. His experience with cats, dogs, and children is not listed.

Cinnamon is a one year old brown and white male guinea pig who has experience with dogs and children above the age of ten. Speaking of, he was surrendered to the shelter because his family's children lost interest in him. Parents really need to prepare to be primary care-giver for a pet, and anticipate being sole care-giver should the child lose interest. Otherwise the animal will suffer.

Fudge is a 9 month old male with short brown/tan fur.

Marshmellow is a 7 week old male with smooth white fur. "Marshmellow was surrendered to the vbspca because his family did not want him. He is friendly and likes to be held." It sounds like he comes from the same litter as Alex; he also has experience with children.

Abby is a 7 week old male with smooth white fur. He has the same bio and experience with children as Alex and Marshmellow.

LISTING REMOVED Bear is a one year old chubby female guinea pig with short black fur. She is well socialized to people but does not have experience with other animals.

LR Alex is a 7 week old male with smooth black and white fur and small amounts of brown. "Alex was surrendered to the vbspca because his family did not want him. He is friendly and likes to be held." He has experience with children.

VA-Courtesy Posting/Wonderful Adoption Opportunity! 7 Pigs-Lake Ridge/Woodbridge

This is a courtesy post for an amazing woman who rescued some guinea pigs from a pretty sad craigslist ad for four "hampsters." The four piggies of the original ad have turned into seven, between adoptions and a prolific pregnancy. Now the adopter has eleven pigs, and she started out just looking for one! The original adopter is hoping that all of these pigs can get the kind of great one on one attention they deserve. If you have a POSITIVELY SEXED/healthy guinea pig (use this site Boy or Girl? or have a Cavy Savvy Vet confirm the sex of your pig for you), you can bring your guinea pig and see which of the pigs it gets along with best! Contact info available at this link.

Let's meet all the lucky piggies!!

Peanut and Bagel, bonded pair of playful male babies. Bagel is more laid back, Peanut is more active. Still a little shy with people (typical of their age).

"Peanut & Bagel are our two baby boys. They are the best of friends but still a little shy around people. They should move to a new home together if at all possible, because they often cry when they're apart from each other. Bagel is the more laid-back of the two; he loves to lounge around and watch all the action from the comfort of his pigloo. Peanut is always walking around looking for something new to eat or trying to chat up his other cagemates. Both like to run laps around the cage."

Poppy, five month old male. Curious, active, skittish when being picked up, but settles in lap (typical of age, good soon that he settles). Should go to home without dogs/children.

"Poppy is the older brother of Peanut & Bagel. We'd guess him to be about 5 months old. He got his name back when we thought he was a girl. He's very curious and is always the first one to run to the cage wall when I come in the room. He always has to know what's going on and constantly begs for food. Poppy is skittish and should probably not go to a home with children or dogs. He doesn't much like being picked up, but seems comfortable with being held once he settles down."

Fiyero is 9-12 months old, very well socialized, gentle, gets along well with other pigs. Past impaction issues probably due to old environment.

"Fiyero is the father of all these babies and probably my favorite of these pigs. While he's definitely an adult, he's still pretty young...I'd say he's 9 months to a year old perhaps. He's a big sweetie who loves to be held and petted! He's very gentle and will cuddle up in your lap for long periods at a time. I adore this pig and would love to keep him myself...Fiyero gets along very well with most of the other boys and should have a (male) friend in his new home or go with one of my other boars. When we first brought Fiyero home, we thought that he had a fecal impaction, so we cleaned him up. He's been here over two months and hasn't had any more problems, so I think it was just a hygiene problem in his previous environment."

Freddy and Georgia, bonded female pair of babies, sweet, active, and playful.

"Freddy & Georgia are the "twins," so called because their markings are so similar--just different shades of brown. These pigs are sweet and playful and love to do everything together. These two will run laps around the cage until they're exhausted."

Patches, female baby, well socialized to people, curious, loves to explore, friendly.

"Patches is our beauty--she's got a brown patch over one eye and one black ear. She's very friendly and does well being held. Patches is very inquisitive and during floor time likes to explore everywhere--she often follows our four year old pig around to new areas she hasn't been to yet. She...is one of the bolder girls coming up to the wall to beg or eat from our hands. She loves to sit in the food dish while she eats and is getting so big that when she does, the other pigs have to nudge her so she'll move and they can eat"

VA-Craigslist-NOVA/ Alexandria/Huntington

*If responding to an ad by an individual, meet in a public place
or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

Northern Virginia: 14 week old female guinea pig being rehomed because of too many pets (dog). Guinea pig is brown and white with red eyes, has experience with children and is good with being held. Comes with inappropriate cage (try Cheaper, Better Cages), two bags of bedding, A WHEEL (NEVER USE), food, toys, snacks and grass (should have unlimited hay).

Alexandria/Huntington, VA: Two guinea pigs (Boy or Girl? )being rehomed because their owners are moving overseas for military reasons. Guinea pigs "are super friendly, but a bit shy at first." Can adjust to kids with time. Come with nail trimmers, cage, pigloos, water bottles and food trays. Pics by request. GUINEA PIG LESSON: Don't put vitamins in the water, they're not water soluble so they stop working after about five minutes and then they just make the water taste bad, leading to reduced water consumption.

MD/VA/DC-Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue-New Girl Pigs and Pair

Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue, MD/VA/DC: New Girl Pigs and a pair! ALL PIGS SPAYED AND NEUTERED! (Post on males to follow).

This is the fabulous rescue for which I foster, and they are always looking for new foster homes. I'm going to cheat and just quote their bios from their site.

UPDATE:

Sugar Lips is six months old. "What a sweet face on this little girl. Those little pig lips look like shes just been nibbling on a powdered sugar confection. While we don't think that would be a great idea for any of our pigs one can always imagine. Sugar Lips will need to be adopted as a friend for your guinea pig or with one of ours. She is a young lively girl that will need someone to romp with."

Cinnamon is one year old. "This is a sweet natured pig that was taken into our rescue with a new litter. Much to our surprise she was already pregnant again. I think this girl needs a long vacation and a forever home with lots of hugs and cuddles."

Fawn is six months old. "Fawn is a lively youngster that just loves to get out and run around at floor time. Shes not afraid to let you know when it's dinner time either. A tad shy with people still she has no problem bossing around her cage mates. She does enjoy having someone to boss around so she will need to be adopted with one of our pigs or as a friend for yours."

ADOPTED! Fudge is five months old. "This girl is super fast. We probably should have named her Stealth. She likes running with her cage mate Cali and will need to be adopted with another pig or as a companion to yours."

ADOPTED! Cali is five months old. "Cali has markings much like a calico cat. She also looks totally different from each side. She likes to play with her cage mate Fudge and just adores the rattle of veggie bags. This sweet young girl needs a forever home with a piggy to play with as well as a human or two to fall in love with."

Cupid is four months old. "Cupid was born in our care the day before valentines days. She is a sweet lively girl and will need a companion pig to play and grow with. She will be a wonderful friend for your pig or adopt her with another one of ours."

ADOPTED! Gilda is a four month old crested short hair. "Gilda is the sister of Angus and koogan. The trio was dropped-off at the shelter with their mom when they were only a week old. Gilda loves other pigs and loves to be held, but is not active within her cage. She must be adopted with another pig."

UPDATE:

Star is a nine month old abby girl. "Star is a beautiful, multicolored Abbysinian who came to MGPR still nursing her two babies, Leon and Michelle. Star loves to romp in the grass with her two babies, and is happy to eat most anything you give her. At first she was a bit shy, but has grown more and more calm, allowing the adoring neighborhood children to pet her. Ideally, she would be adopted out with Michelle, but at the very least as one of a pair."

ADOPTED! Miss Marple is a former foster of mine! She's a four month old girl. I named her Miss Marple because she's so tiny and curious and cute. "Miss Marple is a beautiful girl with remarkable coloring. Malnourished when we took her in, Miss Marple will most likely be on the small side for her entire life. However she has developed into a true cuddle bug with a great out going personality."

Wonka and Tate are a five month old male and female pair, and they "are a wonderfully silly pair!"

ADOPTED! Fluffy is a one year old guinea pig. "Fluffy is a sweet girl with a nice easy going personality. Named after the hugely popular children's books "Fluffy, the Classroom Guinea Pig". She too is a star. She helped represent Balt. Co. Humane Society on one of their tv appearances."

Snowball is a snuggle bug that just loves to cuddle up for lap time. She very much likes the company of other pigs and must be adopted as a companion to yours or with one of ours. She is one year old.

ADOPTED! Sandy has a sweet calm personality. Shes loves lap time and floor time and lots of fresh veggies. She will make a great companion for your male or one of ours. P.S. She also loves a good chin scratch. She is eight months old.

ADOPTED! Isadora Is adorable!!!!! This sweet beauty was born in our care. She is the spitting image of her mother right down to the eye liner around those beautiful eyes. She is playful and active and full of fun. She is more than ready for her very own forever home and a piggy friend to share it with. She can not be adopted as a single. She is two months old and crested!

MY PERSONAL THREE FOSTERS!

Tizzy is a whirlwind of a piggy! She is a very active girl who loves to popcorn and play "piggy spy" with her friends during floor time. Tizzy would be best suited for a guinea-experienced home, and should not be adopted to a home with young children. Lettuce leaves be warned: Tizzy is on the prowl! UPDATE: Tizzy is becoming a total lap pig. Tizzy is five months old

ADOPTED! Hildegard von Beaver-Pig is eight months old. "Hildy is a guinea pig superstar! She has soft, fluffy fur and loves to be pet, so long as you don't mind her climbing all over you. She is a popcorning maniac and absolutely loves floortime. After just a few days with her we knew she must be guinea pig royalty, and so she got her surname. She must be adopted with another guinea pig. She appears to be the mother of Tizzy."

Aimé is a sweetheart piggy girl, who loves lap time as much as floor time, and she loves floor time! She is a champion popcorner, and can't wait to have a pig companion with whom to race and cuddle. Aimé cannot be an only pig. She is six months old.
