VA-Craigslist-Richmond/Norfolk/ Fredericksburg

*If responding to an ad by an individual, meet in a public place
or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

Mechanicsville (Richmond), VA
: Two male guinea pigs being rehomed due to son losing interest. Very sweet, used to being handled. Pics available by request. Come with cage, food, water bottle, extra cage, bedding, and other accessories.

Forest Hill Park (Richmond), VA
: Poster found a cage abandonded in Forest Hill Park with two guinea pigs inside and brought the pigs home. Only one pig survived, but thrived! and is now a healthy, happy and pudgy girl named Bunny. She does not get enough attention in her present home, and so the poster has decided to rehome her. Here's the catch, they're not sure whether Bunny is actually a girl. And since Bunny was housed with another pig, she may actually be pregnant. Ooch! You know the links: PREGNANCY WATCH Boy or Girl?

Virginia Beach (Norfolk), VA
: Three males and four females being rehomed due to allergies. Come with cages (too small, try Cheaper, Better Cages). Adopt them in same sex pairs, as they get along well with each other. Oldest is 1.5 years old. If anyone has info that this may be a br33der listing, please let me know and I will promptly remove it.

Fredericksburg (NoVA)
: Franklin is a male guinea pig, less than one year old, being rehomed because his family found two guinea pigs to be too much work (as compared to one). I have actually found the opposite to be true. Guinea pigs also are incredibly social creatures, and really rely on having a friend. Here's a great link for more info: Guinea Pigs need a friend! Social Interaction. He comes with his cage (too small, try Cheaper, Better Cages), food dish and water bottle.

Kempsville (Norfolk), VA: Two 5 m.o. female guinea pigs being rehomed due to allergies. Lovable and playful, bonded and so must be adopted together. One is a longhair, the other looks like she might be a texel mix? A rather high adoption fee (poster is attempting to recoup costs) includes accessories. Still, don't forget the essential: Cheaper, Better Cage

Richmond, VA: Two girls and two boys being rehomed due to allergies. They are eight months old. "Great piggies." PREGNANCY WATCH.

Manassas, VA
: One year old female being rehomed. Long white, brown and black hair. Being rehomed due to allergies. "Cute and cuddly and likes people." The poster fostered two males along with Delilah, make sure to ask whether they have been separated the whole time. Otherwise there is a PREGNANCY WATCH.

Bristow, VA: Rooney is a one year old "brindlish" male being rehomed due to allergies. He is very sweet and timid. I would think that if he were settled in a more permanent home he might come out of his shell, he appears to have been bounced around a lot :( .

MD-Small Angels Rescue-New pigs!

Small Angels Rescue; Foster homes in Northern Maryland: Lauritz, LISTING REMOVED Flocke and Tacita, ADOPTED! Perry, ADOPTED! Estelle and Ranata, Chilton and Langley and Miles!

Lauritz is an adult neutered guinea guy. He came to the rescue from a home where he was in danger of dogs, and that home had just kindly taken him in because their neighbors were moving. Sounds like Lauritz needs some permanence! He becomes very cuddly once in your arms, and loves having his nose gently rubbed.

Flocke and Tacita are a bonded pair who came from a farm where they were being kept outside. Flocke is the adorable boy who looks a little like a sheep! (He is a neutered lilac abby). Tacita is the lovely ginger and white abby (she's also spayed). Flocke is cuddly, personable, and dances when presented with veggies! Tacita is a spunky girl with beautiful blue eyes. She'll dodge being picked up but then is good for a cuddle once in your arms.

Perry is a neutered adult guinea guy. He is a pink eyed white with lilac touches to his ears. Perry came to the rescue from the local animal shelter, and is now much happier! He is chowing down on veggies and unlimited hay, as well as occasional fruit! Perry had to have a small cyst removed during his neuter. He's sweet and gentle, and loves to cuddle. What a darling guy!

Estelle and Ranata are two piggies who were rescued from the local animal shelter, where they had been surrendered because their family did not have enough time for them. Their bio puts their birthdate around July of 2007. Poor girls did not get the best care! They were on Carefresh, but their cage was only cleaned every three weeks. They only got lettuce and oranges to eat (and luckily unlimited timothy hay, whew). Estelle is the gorgeous taupe and white sheltie (long haired) pig on the left. She'll need extra grooming and the occasional bath to keep her looking and feeling good! Ranata on the right is a bit shyer. "They have become a little more outgoing in foster care, but are inclined to panic if not handled carefully." Sounds understandable!

Chilton, the guinea pig of Rory Gilmore (back when that show was worth a damn)! He is a lively and active young neutered guinea guy. Chilton was abandoned at a pet store, then taken to an animal shelter, and so arrived in the rescue. Poor Chilton! He is coming out of his shell still, and will need a patient family. "Chilton is a dear little boy, who likes to run around and have fun. As he is still so young, he has some growing to do."

Langley and Miles are an absolutely striking pair of pigs! They are bonded pair of adult neutered pigs who must be adopted together. Langley is on the right and is part abby. He is mostly ginger colored with a little bit of white on his forehead. Miles is on the left and is an abby. They were surrendered to the local shelter because of allergies. They both love to be cuddle, especially Langley, and are sweet and gentle.

MD-Chesapeake Bay Guinea Pig Rescue Inc.

Well wow. Two absolutely gorgeous boys at the Annapolis, MD based rescue Chesapeake Bay Guinea Pig Rescue.

Peanut and Shaggy are long haired Peruvian boys who were given up when their family was moving out of state and couldn't take them with them. These young boars have beautiful long silkie hair. Don't let it fool you, this hair needs more upkeep than the average guinea's. You'll have to watch out for matted fur, and keep it trimmed. They should be brushed daily. But it's worth it for such sweet boys as these. These boys love lap time, but they don't love getting picked up for it. Once they get plenty of people socialization and TLC, they should take The Hand (often confused with birds by guinea pigs) more easily. They are very nice boys looking for a loving forever home.

VA-Three baby pigs available for adoption from Vet

Vienna, VA: that link will take you to a thread on Pigloo, another guinea pig forum that I am not a member of, but hear great things about. Check it out! Meanwhile, one male, one female, and one mystery pig are available for adoption at this vet clinic. Ask for Jen, who is the office manager and the person who rescued the piggies' mother. One is black and white with a curly coat, and may prove to be a texel. The others are tri-colored, one with a crest and the other looks to have medium-long length hair. The person who posted this hasn't seen the mom or dad, so is just going by the babies themselves when guessing at breeds.

MD-Animal Rescue of Maryland

Animal Rescue of Maryland is a rescue organization that was originally begun to save homeless dogs, but now seems to have a few gorgeous guineas on their hands.

Amy, Beth, Meg and J
are four beautiful abbys who have to be adopted in pairs. How could you chose? They are very bonded and quite amazing looking. I think the tricolor guinea on the right even has a guinea tail-if that's the case, these can grow out-she'll be even more striking. They're estimated to be a year and a half old. The rescue adopts to people in the MD/DC/VA metropolitan area.

This listing makes it seem like Animal Rescue of Maryland has more long haired girls, but I wonder if it's a proto-listing for the one above. Contact the rescue for more information (and then tell me!).
