IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Starting Dec. 30th I will be taking a vacation for several weeks. In my absence Mr. AAGP will be taking over, so if the AAGP posts suddenly seem more charming and handsome, that's why.

Because Mr. AAGP has much more of a life than I do, and is doing this for me as a favor, the posts will be much briefer than normal, and updated less frequently.

Please count on pigs in urgent cases to continue to be posted, but if there is a rescue piggie who will be fine, and snug in their foster home for the few weeks until I get back, Mr. AAGP may leave that pig for me.

Mr. AAGP's posts will be signed as AAGP2.

Four Listings: VA-Craigslist

LISTING REMOVED. Huntington, VA: Not much here at all. Rehoming fee is too low. Make sure they are safe.

LISTING REMOVED. Norfolk, VA: The first sentence baffles me somewhat. Two males and . . . well, that's really all the ad says. They do come with a book on how to care "for your pet." I wonder if the book is for any possible pet?

LISTING REMOVED. Lynchburg, VA: Three pigs being rehomed because of allergies. There is one particularly odd statement in here that I won't repeat because of its "googleability." I also really wonder what "tufted eyelashes" are. They come with cages and water bottles.

LISTING REMOVED. Covington, VA: While I've been remiss in updating the blog (which I will absolutely try to amend starting today), I feel as though I may have purposefully avoided this ad because of how uncomfortable it makes me. But that helps no one (especially the poor piggie), so this pig is being rehomed because the owner no longer has time--alas. But references will be asked in order to ensure the pig will get a good home. I'm not sure what kind of references, but... He is an awfully sweet looking fellow.

MD-Craigslist-2 Males

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Gaithersburg, MD: This ad really saddens me. Guinea Pigs have been at home for a year, a dog just comes into the picture and the guinea pigs have to go. Too low. I can't even poke fun of this one.

LISTING REMOVED. Hanover, VA: A sad looking guinea pig who comes with toxic cedar, an incredibly dangerous rolling ball, food (proper pellets? veggies? hay? I doubt it), dish, water bottle. Please give her a good home.

LISTING REMOVED. Norfolk, VA: Three female pigs are being rehomed because of kid (enough said). They come with two cages (?), water bottles, dishes, food. And apparently they can sing, so perhaps they are actually birds of some sort.

LISTING REMOVED. Roanoke, VA: A rather convoluted, sad and typical story involving rehoming guinea pigs. I won't unravel it here, though. One male is being rehomed with water bottle, cage, hay, and food feeder.

MD-Craigslist-1 Pig

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Saint Michaels, MD: Awful. One pig of unspecified sex (I bet they don't even know) going for too low. I really don't understand how this myth about guinea pigs being a good pet for children started. Very frustrating.

VA-Craigslist-2 Females

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Ashland, VA: Two females being rehomed for unspecified reasons. They come with cage, bedding, water bottle, and food (I hope that means oxbow pellets and hay). Pictures are available upon request, plus a fee will be applied so they don't become food. Good.

LISTING REMOVED. Washington, DC: Two males being adopted out for unspecified reasons. They are apparently being adopted "through a rescue" but the rescue is unspecified.

LISTING REMOVED. Norfolk, VA: These are two fellows who are over a year old and come with a lot of items. They are being rehomed because the owner has too many pets and these poor fellows are the first to go. The cage is of course way too small. I really have no idea what a "Hanging Alfalfa Ball" is but I guess it's one of those hay ballls that make it incredibly difficult for pigs to get the hay and can also come apart easily and cause harm. Since they are over a year old they should be eating timothy hay or orchard grass, not alfalfa. They are super cute and one of them seems to be a base jumper of some sort. Thanks, again, to Naomi for finding these fellows.

Also, I'm not certain if the base jumper is a PEW or it's just the photo.
