VA-Craigslist, Sow, Woodbridge

LISTING EXPIRED. This dear sow is so pretty. I love solid colored guineas (or selfs). She is being rehomed because her owner graduated from college and now has a full time job, so the owner doesn't have time for her. Cripes! I can't imagine having a job where I couldn't take care of a guinea pig. And let's hope I don't get one-I've got to start looking soon. (But good wishes for a job will obviously be appreciated). Anyway, poor baby is sweet, friendly, good natured, and doesn't bite. Her negotiable adoption fee includes her cage, bedding, and hay. Adopt this sweetheart and get her a friend!

MD-CL-Four Guinea Pig Babies 911

LISTING EXPIRED. 911-someone is offering four guinea pig babies in Baltimore (Cockeysville), MD. Yes they're charging an adoption fee, but they are giving them away first come first served. What assholes! That adoption fee is just to make money, in no way to screen potential adopters. Two months old-B/W, B/W/Br. Only to loving good home. That is the first loving good home. The pieces of shit who own animals astound me.

MD-Little Wonders Animal Rescue-boars

Even more Little Wonders piggies! They just keep getting cuter.

Picture Kramer bursting open the door to your heart! He is a curious, active abby boy, described as an adult, size medium.

Vincent is another one of those medium sized adults. He is also a handsome boy who looks like he could do with a good hugging.

Unlike their Odd Couple namesakes, ADOPTED! Oscar and Felix get along fabulously. They have to be adopted together-if you do, you'll bring home two amazing looking guys. They need a forever home in which to bicker together affectionately.

MD-Little Wonders Animal Rescue

Here are some more of those special Little Wonders piggies.

Fall in love with ADOPTED! Jenny like you're Forrest Gump! She is less than a year old, is small, and needs a caring forever home.

ADOPTED! Dafney and Cloe are so beautiful. I think the guinea on the right looks like an adorable furry little haystack. They're medium sized adults, and are described as calm. I imagine they'd have to be to get a photo like this, look at them:

Hershey and Mikey are two bonded boys who look adorable. They're described as "real gentleman" who love to come out of their cage, which is great, because guinea pigs should have daily floortime and lap time. Though they're both cuties, I have to admit Hershey has especially won my heart.

VA-Noah's Ark Foundation-sow

I'm confuzzled about this gal's status, but she's so cute she should be posted regardless. Rini lives over at the Noah's Ark Foundation, which is in Northern Virginia. She is three years old and 2.5 pounds, which is a great weight for a guinea pig. They're generally supposed to be between two and three pounds. She is a little jittery and has had a hard past, but she's a nice pig. They want her to go to an experienced guinea pig person. The reason why I'm not sure about her status is because she is not listed on Petfinder, and it says she has an application pending. Think how special this sweetie would feel if she had two! And remember, there are other guinea pigs at Noah's Ark Foundation too.

MD-Craigslist, boar

LISTING REMOVED. This Silver Spring, MD listing has been reposted: We have a friendly male pig who needs a new home. We just think he is kind of bored living with us (no kids, no other pigs) and would do really well with kids or in a multi-pig or rabbit household. He has tolerated very young children (1-3) well and would do great with older kids. He is white and brown with a rough coat (sorry I don't have a picture). He comes with a cage and supply of food. I hope to place him this weekend (10/27-10/28). Please email me at fr[33]pigsilverspring@yahoo.com to let me know when you can come to see him. If you'd like further information, please email me with your phone number a good time to call you. We live in the four corners area of Silver Spring.

1. Personally, I don't think kids are a requirement for a guinea pig household. Responsible rescues and shelters are actually more reserved about a household where kids are responsible for the guinea pig's well being.

2. Guinea pigs should never be housed with a rabbit. It results in broken bones, at least.

3. 1-3 year olds should only be around a guinea pig for short periods of time under extreme supervision.

4. A cage for one guinea pig should be at least 2'X3'. Few, if any, pet store cages are adequate. Food should mean quality pellets (no seeds, colored pieces), alfalfa pellets for young babies and nursing or pregnant mothers, ONLY timothy based pellets for adults, a quality hay (see Kleenmama's Loft), and three servings of vegetables a day that meet a guinea pig's unique dietary needs.

This fr33 ad for a guinea pig does not guarantee them the knowledgeable home he deserves-if even a home at all. Can you help?

PA-Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue

Making an exception for Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue, a great PA rescue which will adopt to out of staters, providing they pass the requirements and will travel PA.

ADOPTED! Rosie and Jackie are two bonded cuties who are about one year old. Rosie (on the left) is more people friendly, but Jackie (on the right) has to be in the lap before she settles. I can't imagine leaving these beautiful sweet girls behind. Someone please adopt them and give Rosie a nose rub for me! That mug is begging for it.

ADOPTED! Johnny and Jerry Lee are a bonded father and son pair. I do not see any family resemblance whatsoever, so let's assume Jerry Lee took after his mom. Now Johnny, on the right, has what I'm going to call a super crest. I've never seen anything like that before! It's an amazing mohawk-maybe he's a Native American piggie. He is described as very vocal, friendly, and he loves to be held. Johnny is one year old, and Jerry Lee is 7-8 months. Jerry Lee also loves to be held, and will give the guinea chatter when frightened. Just wait till you have five guinea pigs doing it at once because you sneezed! It sounds like some dentist's nightmare.

A plug for one more PA shelter that takes in surrenders: Furry Friends Guinea Pig Rescue is wonderful. Sophie, pictured on the sidebar, came from there. Because they have a million guineas and aren't affiliated with the VA/DC/MD region, I'm not going to feature the guineas individually. I did want to give a shout out though.
