LISTING REMOVED. Arlington, VA: Four guinea pigs being listed as hamsters. Thank you muchly to the fabulous five stars lady who sent this to me. It would be important upon adopting one of these pigs to use this link ( Boy or Girl?) and to start a PREGNANCY WATCH. Also, these piggies deserve: Cheaper, Larger Cages.

LISTING REMOVED Norfolk, VA: A reposting with new details. Chip is seven months old and a very friendly boar. He has to be rehomed because of a new baby in the home. He comes with his cage, water bottle, feeding dish, and pigloo.

Here's the issue with Chip. It sounds like he has mites. The poster writes that "he has been chewing on the middle of his back." They treated him with flea therapy. GUINEA PIG LESSON: Powder therapies made for dogs and cats (and anything made by Hartz) are toxic for guinea pigs, because they ingest it when they groom themselves. There is a safe, easy, cheap oral and topical treatment for guinea pigs: Ivermectin. That link can tell you a lot about it more than I can, but mites (if this is Chip has) aren't a huge deal. Left untreated, however, they can be fatal. It would be angel work to adopt this guy into a prepared and loving forever home.
