Posting this in case the babies are a new litter of Princess's.
Momma Pig and Her Babies! as well as a repeat GUINEA PIG LESSON: a repeat on roaning (the special pattern in their fur) and how it relates to guinea pigs:
One of many reasons why I'm against br33ding (and why this blog does not support br33ding), is because if a roan pig is br3d with with a roan pig (or if a dal pig, another br33d, is br3d with a dal pig), there is a one in four chance a lethal pig will be born. Lethal pigs are very, very special needs, if they live more than a few days. Please don't ever br33d your pigs, as there is a high chance of fatality for the mother. But if you have a pig with white fur and some black spots (a dal pig), or the black markings intermittent in fur that constitute roaning, please, please don't br33d them. Your pig may create a blind, deaf pig with no teeth who relies on you for care. And with so many hundreds of homeless pigs, why br33d in the first place? This whole family carries the roan gene and could potentially create a lethal if br3d.
Princess is a one year old guinea girl who is good with kids. She was surrendered due to landlord reasons.
Raphael is a baby boy who was born at the shelter and has been handled daily by his foster family. He was born on 4/29/2008. He's good with kids, and has short black and red fur.
Avril is a baby girl who was also born at the shelter on the same day as Raphael and has also been handled daily by the foster family. She's good with kids, and also has short black and red fur.
Leonardo is a baby boy who was born at the shelter on the same day and has also been handled daily by the foster family. He's good with kids and has short black and gray fur.
Remy is a baby boy also born at the shelter, same day, being helped by the foster family. He is good with kids and has short black and gray fur.
Many sad accidents or "accidents" can be avoided this way. *
