Did you know...

that just like those poor puppies, guinea pigs in pet stores also can come from mills? And that someone who br33ds even a few litters a year, then sells (or gives away) the pigs online or to a store is still guaranteeing the death of a pig in a shelter?

I say what may seem a harsh statement because there are many, many more guinea pigs then there are homes. And so if you have found this blog, please don't get your guinea pig from a petstore, 4-her, school br33ding program, or someone who has otherwise contributed to the guinea pig population on purpose, because there are hundreds of guinea pigs posted below who are in desperate need of a forever home.

Adopting a guinea pig listed on this website is saving a life!

They're counting on you!

I love the blog! If my rescues weren't in Ohio, I'd send 'em your way to find their forever home. Such a great page. :D

Thanks Feylin! They can make a guest appearance any time. Maybe Louis could do a highlight role among The Mammals? :D

I'm huge on adoption as a first AND only resort. One of my pigs was adopted from PG county and another from Montgomery County's Humane Society. I've browsed many a webpage looking for future potential adoptees and have found your blog to be extremely effective and informative. It's very well put together and hopefully one day, I can remove one of the pigs off of your hands! :)

I adopted 3 of my pigs last year via listings you had on this blog. I am so glad you have it since this is also how I found Guinea Lynx! :) Naomi

;-;! Looking for a spayed female piggie within about 15 miles of the Richmond area, but willing to go a little farther. Maryland is a bit of a trip for the pigs, but will do as a last resort (I adopted my current female from MGPR! Was just a whole day trip!) My boy and girl would love to have another friend ^^

Aww, who did you adopt? I foster for MGPR, I bet I'd remember them. Our meet this month is in Alexandria, is that closer for you? The only spayed pigs I can think of are MGPR, Small Angels (who would be even closer away), or Cave Spring: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/VA326.html in Roanoake. You can't really trust that a guinea pig is actually spayed from a listing on craigslist, I've found. I would go the rescue route.

C'mon, apply to MGPR :P It's worth a drive to meet all our adorable piggies: http://mgpr.org/MGPR/CF_Pages/available_gp.cfm

hehe ^^ I adopted Daphney! (I dropped the Y at the end of her name though when I spell it now~) She and my boy Kishi get along so well! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y293/konekonoarashi/IMG_1410.jpg

lol I might still end up haulin' it to MGPR again-- was just an all day excursion when I went for Daphne haha. But wow it was fun and they're such a great match~
And yeah, Alexandria is a lot easier to get to than wherever it has been in January in Maryland!

S.B. said...

Oh she was a cutie. I bet people would love to see her again. You should apply! The match might be somewhere far away again next month, so this is a good month to apply for :)

Yeah she's impeccably sweet and doesn't let Kishi push her around one bit! But boy does he love to rumblestrut to her any chance he gets! I spoil em good with veggies and hay and they woot at me every single time I go to my room (even if I had only stepped out for a minute! They're like dogs lol). :X hehe mayeb I WILL apply then.. Can't get enough of these piggies and I love to torment myself by looking at all teh adoptables on the MGPR site all the time.. Boy, daffodil on there is a cute one, but that's my nickname for Daphne!

Oh I just looked at the photo, they look so cute together! Daffodil is a sweetie, and she's fostered by the same person who fostered Daphney. I don't think anyone has requested Daffodil yet either :P

You could always change her name...haha!

Oh god yeah I might have to make her mine given she gets along with my other two *_*! When is the next meet? That way I can first of all see if I can make it this month.

S.B. said...

I *believe* it is the 26th.

All right! I put in an application, hehe. Just a matter of deciding whcih sweetie to adopt! daphne is pretty laid back and accepting and well.. Kishi just loves the ladies...
