LISTING REMOVED. Lenny is a five year old boar at the Montgomery County Humane Society. He has beautiful markings. That's all I know about him. But as a senior pig, he has high odds of living the rest of his life in the shelter. Save him from this fate. Become his hero and mine.

VA-Cave Spring Piggie Rescue-Bonded mother and son

Cave Spring Piggie Rescue has two "new" guinea pigs available for adoption, and it's for a sad reason. LISTING REMOVED. Cookie and Chip are sweet, outgoing guineas who were returned from their "forever" home due to no fault of their own. Behavioral issues of a young child in that home made their placement incompatible. To quote from the author of their Petfinder page: "I think the worse thing ever is to not have love and attention, get it, then have it all taken away again. My heart just breaks for these innocent, helpless pigs." I can only reference these words, I cannot express the sentiment better. Cookie is two years old and spayed; Chip is a year and a half old and intact. Can you provide them with the forever home they thought they'd found? I''ll update when a picture is posted--beat me to it by adopting them and posting it in the comments!

VA-Craigslist-two bonded boars

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to ensure
it matches the name he or she gives *

Well, this is a new one on me.

LISTING DELETED. Richmond, VA two bonded boars not just being given away for fr33, but with some starter cash for food money. Very well intentioned, but dangerous. Could amount to paying for your guinea to turn into sn@ke food. Definitely, definitely give a donation if you're surrendering your guinea pig to a shelter or rescue, but not an anonymous individual. The two year old boys come with their "habitat." They are healthy and active, and the poster will deliver.

LISTING DELETED. White Marsh (near Baltimore), MD; two year old sow needs new home. Her current owner is going to have a kid, so she feels she won't have enough time for a guinea pig. The guinea pig is described as sweet and mild-mannered. She's never bitten and isn't skittish. The poster recommends her as a single pig, because she's never been around other pigs before. Actually, introducing her to a cagemate might be the nicest thing you could do for this cutie! My Sophie was three years old and some change before she lived with other pigs, once we adopted her. She is the happiest piggie I know. This guinea pig comes with some starter supplies.

VA-Heritage Humane Society-two sows

LISTING REMOVED. I don't know anything about these girls except they're cute. Their names are Annie and Belle. To learn more about them call Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg, VA at (757) 221-0150 . And fill me in!

LISTING REMOVED.
Pasadena, MD: two bonded sows being given up for adoption because the poster's daughters are allergic. This is one of the great advantages of adopting a guinea pig, you can spend time with one before adopting. Allergies aren't necessarily a reason to rehome, as they can be treated. Look around on Guinea Lynx for more information. Back to these two cuties; they are a mother and daughter pair, five and two months old respectively. They come with some materials, but it doesn't seem like anything is appropriate for guinea pigs but the pigloo.

I'm putting a picture of the cage up to illustrate how what the pet store sells as a large cage isn't even suitable for one guinea pig. Click the cages link at the bottom for cheaper, larger guinea pig cages.

Past Guinea Pigs

It's been a dry spell for people giving up their guinea pigs in this area, so I'm going to remind you of nine guinea pigs I posted almost a month ago who are still up for adoption. Click on their pictures to go to their original listing in this blog. Some of them are in shelters. Save a life--adopt.

VA-Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA-sow and boar, unbonded

The Rockinghamn-Harrisonburg SPCA in Harrisonburg, VA, has two gorgeous new guinea pigs. You can see them on this page if you scroll down. As far as I can tell they don't post on petfinder/Petharbor, which means they won't get as many views.

ADOPTED! Guinea one, Gigie, is a beautiful young girl, only 3 1/2 months old. It makes me so sad when guinea pigs are homeless at this young age. But it does mean that you can give her a whole lifetime of love.

ADOPTED! Guinea two, Smidgie, is a handsome one and a half year old boar. From his photo it looks like he might have medium-length hair, but I might be wrong. He looks just like my Esme!

POST DELETED. Two bonded boars in Timonium, MD (near Baltimore). Being dumped for fr33 with equipment. Here is the warning on Craigslist about posting animals for "fr33 to good home."

MD-Small Angels-bonded boars

Even more Small Angels!

ADOPTED! Lucius and Tidus are two young bonded boars. These boys are sweet zoomers who love to dive into their hay and chase each other around playing piggie tag.

Lucius is a ginger and white sheltie who will need regular brushing to keep his fur tangle fr33, and will benefit from regular bathing as well.

Tidus is a handsome abby. These active boys need a caring forever home. And from the listing, it sounds like a home that really believes in floortime!

P.S. if you live in Northern Maryland, consider fostering for Small Angels!

it matches the name he or she gives *

POST DELETED. Richmond, VA two adult boars being dumped for fr33. They're "nice," and have grown up together and are therefore bonded. Poster wants both guinea pigs together. Poster hopefully does not know that hoarders and bunchers like to get as many guinea pigs as possible, especially when the price is so good! One has short white hair, and one has brown and tan long hair. They come with their cage and water bottles. They are three years old and so I'm labeling them as seniors--even though that's like giving a discount to a 45 year old at the movie theater.

POST EXPIRED. Richmond, VA two baby boars being dumped for small adoption fee. They are four months old and super cute. They are very fun and silly. The poster invites you to ask questions before adopting. She or he is rehoming them because she does not have time for them. It always makes me sad when people get rid of their pets, but four month olds won't have gotten much a taste of stability. Can you give them their forever home? They come with their cages, pigloo, water bottle, food, and dishes.

MD-Small Angels-two boars

Small Angels, I'm convinced, has a contract to receive cute guineas. Either that or they have some sort of guinea pig plastic surgery ring going. It's impossible that a rescue could have guineas that are consistently so adorable. (I'm just joking by the way, about the surgery. I don't want this to show up on Snopes a year from now).

(Listing removed, paired with another pig) Juno, god of cuties, has had a difficult past. His first family didn't want him anymore, so they gave him to his second family, who didn't have enough time to care for him so they surrendered him to a shelter. That's how Juno got to Small Angels, and lucky thing he did. He was originally a frightened, dirty guinea with overgrown nails, but a loving foster home has cheered him up and made him beautiful. Always thank your piggies' foster mom or dad--they often get the animal from point A to B. Juno is now a sweetheart who loves lap time. He is looking for a guinea pal, and a home that will love him and house him forever.

ADOPTED! Aimery is a beautiful boar who has had a horrible past. He came to Small Angels from a local shelter, where he had been dropped off as a stray. He had a large sebaceous cyst on his back, and was shaved by a shelter vet because he was so dirty. Small Angels's rescue vet was able to remove the cyst surgically, and now Aimery is healthy, happy, and growing back his gorgeous fur. He is active, lively, and looking for a lady friend. Do you have a sow who needs a boar now? Because Aimery is a boar who's looking for more!

P.S. if you live in Northern Maryland, consider fostering for Small Angels!

VA-Craigslist-Two Listings

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

POST DELETED. Norfolk, VA; sow and boar pair, six months old: The boy is black and white, the girl is brown and white. They're both beautiful! Their rehoming is an instance of another present gone wrong. Girl gives guineas to guy, guy tires of guineas and gives them back to girl, girl is allergic. And all the while there's a sn@ke in the picture! They come with a cage, playpen, and bedding, and food and hay. Small and reasonable adoption fee, and will screen. The guineas are not being given attention right now. Can you provide them with a forever home?

POST DELETED. Blacksburg, VA: baby boar, four months old: this is a sad case. George is being dumped before he's even a half a year old. And you'll see in his photos he's being housed on wire floors, which can lead to bumblefoot. George comes with his cage, some bedding, food, and toys. The owner doesn't have time for him.
